Which edge should I pick for a gallery wrap?

  • Mirror image: the outer 1.5 in of your photo is mirrored onto the sides, so nothing on the front wraps around.
  • Fold: your photo itself wraps around the sides. Keep faces and text away from the edges.
  • Black or white: solid color sides for a clean, modern look.

It is a photo or piece of art printed on artist canvas. A gallery wrap is stretched around a 1.5 inch deep stretcher frame so the image covers the front and the sides, with no extra frame needed. You can also set the print in a floating frame, or order it unstretched, as a roll.

What is the difference between a canvas wrap, framed canvas, framed print and canvas roll?

A wrap is stretched on a 1.5 inch deep frame with the image or a color on the sides. A framed canvas is mounted flat on a rigid backer inside a 1.25 inch deep floating frame. A framed print is printed on rigid foam board and set in a natural wood style frame. A roll is printed with no frame, for your own framer or stretcher bars.

Can you frame a canvas print?

Yes. Choose Framed Canvas in the designer and your print is mounted in a floating frame in pecan, black or white, all at the same price. The frame leaves a narrow gap around the edges, so the print looks like it floats inside it.

How do I hang a canvas print?

Gallery wraps, framed canvas and framed prints arrive ready to hang, and the first two include hanging hardware. Use a nail or picture hook rated for the weight, and two hooks for wide pieces so they stay level. Rolls are unstretched, so they need stretcher bars or a frame before hanging.

Can I print my own photos on canvas?

Yes. Upload your photo or artwork in the canvas designer, place and crop it, and see it in 3D before you order. Use the largest original file you have, such as the photo straight from your phone or camera rather than a screenshot or a social media copy, and you approve a proof before checkout.

Can I make a split or multi-panel print?

Yes. A split canvas, or multi-panel print, divides one image across two or more panels that hang together as one piece. Order one print for each panel in the same size, or ask our team for a quote and we will plan the layout with you.

Do you offer custom sizes?

Canvas rolls can be ordered in custom sizes right in the designer, and very large sizes are quoted. Gallery wraps and both framed styles come in the standard sizes listed on this page. For anything else, request a quote.

Are canvas prints water resistant?

Canvas prints are made for indoor walls. They are not waterproof, so keep them away from showers, sprinklers, outdoor weather and long periods of direct sun. Wipe off a splash right away with a soft, dry cloth. For outdoor graphics, ask about our banners and signs.

How do I care for my print, and how long will it last?

Dust it with a soft, dry cloth and avoid cleaners, water and abrasive pads. Indoors and out of direct sunlight and high humidity, a canvas print can last for many years, but we do not promise a set number of years because it depends on where it hangs.

Can Ardor Printing help with the design?

Yes. You can design your canvas yourself online for free, or our design team can retouch a photo, build a collage or lay out a multi-panel set for you. Design work is quoted separately, so request a quote and tell us what you have in mind.
